Book Review

The Wreckage Of Us, by Brittainy Cherry (4.2 Stars)

The Wreckage Of Us was not only an escape, but a collection of moments and words that simply moved us. Hazel, a determined, selfless, and resilient heroine, stole our hearts. Faced with considerable struggles, she discovers compassion from the least likely person, Ian. As these two transcend from enemies, to best friends, then lovers, their hearts open to a deep unwavering love. Tackling heartbreaking challenges, kindness, support, and love simply make these two stronger.

Brittainy Cherry’s novels are more than just a tale, they are a thought provoking experience. Though there were many take-aways, for us, The Wreckage Of Us is a beautiful reminder of the importance of kindness and the impact it can have on another’s life.

The Wreckage Of Us, by Brittainy Cherry

Never in a million years did I think it would be Ian Parker who saved me...

I know I should stay away from Ian Parker.

But when my drug-dealing stepdad kicks me out, I have nowhere to go. Squatting in an abandoned shed on Ian’s grandpa’s farm seems like as good a plan as any.

Ian finds me there, of course, and he insists on me moving into his spare room. I should say no, but the appeal of a roof and a warm bed is too much. Not to mention Ian’s brown eyes and strong arms.

We’re nothing alike, but the spark between us is undeniable. My life is finally looking up.

Until I call the cops on my stepdad and unintentionally get my pregnant mom arrested.

Now I have to sacrifice my dreams to take care of my mom’s baby. She’s the only family I have left. Meanwhile, Ian’s band is taking off; his dreams are coming true.

Ian is my one chance at love. I just hope he doesn’t become the one chance that got away.

Publisher's Description

When I was sixteen, I was madly in love with Ryder Casey.

He was kind, he was loving, he was everything.

Then he killed my twin brother, the night before our seventeenth birthday.

Accident or not, he crushed me in more ways than one. So I turned him away and never looked back. I haven’t forgotten. And I certainly haven’t forgiven.

Now, I’m sort of a hot mess. I’m in between jobs, essentially homeless, and newly divorced.

But as I try to put the pieces of my life back together, I know that Ryder’s the one that’s missing. I have to find him, and I have to forgive him.

And when I do, I learn that he’s not exactly living the easiest life. He needs someone. He needs me.

Despite everything, I know I should be there for him. But doing that means I’ll have to put our past behind us.

And I’ll have to try my hardest not to fall back in love with the man who broke my heart beyond repair.

Unforgettable, Melanie Harlow

Publisher's Description

Unforgettable, by Melanie Harlow

Back then, I had it all.
Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.
(And believe me, I knew how to score.)
My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.

Point is, I was invincible.
Until one day I wasn’t.

After tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm.
So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.
Then I run into April Sawyer.

In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye.

It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.

But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

Don't miss the final book in the Cloverleigh Farms series!
